CBI Youth Groups

Congregation Beth Israel has 3 different youth groups to encourage social interaction amongst our Jewish children.  Katanim are 4th and 5th graders, Jewniors are middle school age youth (6th - 8th grades), and   BIRTY (Beth Israel Reform Temple Youth) is our Senior Youth Group for high school students.   The BIRTY Board meets monthly with an advisor to plan their own activities.  These youth are also members of the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) and are invited to attend Regional weekend events.

If you wish to register your child for Youth Group, note we are going green and we will not be mailing out ANYTHING for the 2011/12 Religious School year. The form is now available online by clicking on the follwing link below:

North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY)

NFTY Logo

NFTY was founded in 1939 as the youth arm of the Union for Reform Judaism (formally known as the Union of American Hebrew Congregations). It was created at the urging of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods in order to provide an outlet for young people to engage in the life of their synagogues.

In the more than sixty years of its existence, NFTY has touched the lives of literally thousands of young American Jews through the programs it runs and the relationships it fosters. NFTY has influenced both the Jewish community and the world as it has let its voice be heard on the issues that confront us as Jews and as human beings. NFTY alumni, numbering in the hundreds of thousands, have taken their places in the leadership of the Reform and general Jewish community, both in North America and in Israel. Graduates of NFTY Programs are prominent in the creative arts, communal, political, and Reform Jewish spheres. These alumni agree that NFTY has helped its participants grow as people, as artists, as leaders, and as Reform Jews. We look back at our history with pride and look to our future with hope.

Congregation Beth Israel is proud to be a member of NFTY Pacific Central West Council. Our events and calendar page features upcoming regional and national NFTY programs. If you or your child is interested in NFTY or wish to obtain more information, contact the BIYGMA Advisor Debora Goldstein via the CBI office.
