Scholar-in-Residence Series: Joseph Braude - First Presentation
We are excited to bring Middle East expert Joseph Braude as our scholar-in-residence. He will be speaking on behalf of JIMENA: Jews in Middle East and North Africa, a San Francisco based organization whose mission is to educate and advocate on behalf of former Jewish refugees from the Middle East and North Africa. JIMENA’s Libyan born President, Gina Waldman will participate with her own presentation on Friday night during the Sabbath service.
We will begin the weekend with Joseph Braude’s first presentation: “Jews in the Arab World Today: Pain and Pride from Past to Present.” Please make sure you have an early Sabbath dinner as his presentation will begin at 6:45 p.m. Our Sabbath service will follow his talk and include Gina Waldman sharing with us from the pulpit. An Oneg will follow the Shabbat service.
The scholar-in-residence program is made possible by the generous endowment of the Ted Orliss Scholar-in-Residence Fund.
