The Confirmation Program At CBI
Are you in our 8 - 10th Grade Confirmation program? Do you wish you were? Each year our students study Wednesday evenings with Rabbi Greenbaum and also enjoy special trips.
Preparation for Confirmation is a three-year process, Grades 8, 9 and 10. The overall goals for each year will be accomplished through class studies and discussions, service attendance and participation in special trips. The class meets approximately every other Wednesday night from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
Special aspects of this class include a dinner/social time at the start of each Wednesday night class and special trips to Big Sur when in the 8th grade, Los Angeles in the 9th grade and in the 10th grade a New York City exploration! Unlike the previous years of Religious School, Confirmation requires the student to accept adult responsibilities. Rabbi Bruce Greenbaum teaches the program. Each class includes some insight into traditional and liberal Jewish approaches to the evening's topic as well as opportunities for each student to share their own perspective. Each student will be encouraged to discovers their own individual yet personal connection to Judaism.
Detailed information about the Confirmation Program is available by clicking on the following link below. If you require additional information, contact the Congregation Beth Israel's Executive Office or our Education Director, Louise Riddell-Kaufman at (831) 624-2015 x13.

Parents are encouraged to visit the class. Parents, it would be helpful if you would inform the rabbi in advance when you will be attending. He may ask you to participate in the evening’s discussion! If you need to pick up a student early, please call or send a note. The first 45 minutes of every class will be for dinner and social time. Students should bring a dinner except for Dinner Provided (DP) nights as indicated on the calendar. On those nights Dinner will be provided for the students using tuition funds. We established the Confirmation Fund which helps pay for the special weekend trips. There remains some money in this account from previous years. Donations are needed to support this account. We will be holding our 13th spaghetti dinner and raffle on Wednesday, February 11 to help pay for these trips as well. All confirmation students and their parents are expected to help with this fun fundraiser.
