Our Very Own Sam Helfont Inaugurates CBI’s new Speaker Series: On Sunday afternoon, July 23 from 3:00-5:00 pm, join us for our first talk in CBI’s new bimonthly speaker series. Sam Helfont, CBI member and Asst. Professor of Strategy and Policy in the Naval War College program at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, will speak on “Connections and Conflicts: Jews and Arabs in History.” Sam’s research focuses on international history and politics in the Middle East, especially Iraq and the Iraq Wars; his most recent book is Iraq against the World: Saddam, America, and the Post-Cold War Order (Oxford University Press, 2023). Sam will be speaking at the home of Charlotte Salomon in the Carmel Highlands—wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
