A Word About Finances
Terumah, a Gift of the Heart
We are delighted to have you as a member of Congregation Beth Israel and look forward to welcoming you into our thriving community, the center for Jewish life on the Monterey Peninsula.

Community is more important than ever. But community is not an ideal; it is people. It is you and me.

With no set dues, our pledge system is based on terumah, a gift of the heart--in the Book of Exodus, our Israelite ancestors brought gifts “as their hearts moved” them to finance the construction of the Mishkan, the Tabernacle. In this spirit, we ask you to give as generously as you can.

Our annual membership pledges are our single largest source of support and make possible the religious services, programming, and community outreach we provide all year long.

Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.

As another pledge year is upon us, there's a lot happening at Congregation Beth Israel (CBI). Sometimes, it may seem overwhelming to see how much we have on our plate, but the breadth of our activities is what makes our community so vibrant and inclusive. We believe that the more CBI offers, the more likely it is that every Jew can find a place to get involved and feel at home.

Our Building & Grounds team has been diligently working on renovation ideas, some of which are displayed on posters in the foyer. This year, we will undertake the challenging yet exciting task of bringing these renovation ideas to life, enhancing our space for all who use it.
As you know, costs are rising everywhere, and CBI is no exception. Our staff and board are continuously striving to manage expenses without compromising on the quality of our services and events. Your generous support ensures that CBI can continue to offer the wide range of services and events that keep our community vibrant and welcoming. Ging is i need of maintenance and repairs is on our minds. s.
Deeds of giving are the very foundation of the world.

With your generous pledge from the heart, we will continue to nurture and educate our youth, engage and support our adults, welcome the entire local Jewish community, and provide a meaningful spiritual life for all who seek it.  With our strong CBI community, there is nothing we cannot achieve--we thank you for joining us on our Jewish journey.

All pledges remain confidential.

We look forward to welcoming you to CBI.

B’Shalom,

Malina Breaux
